All of us want to know we’re doing a good job and that we’re appreciated, and lots of us struggle with thinking we’re not doing a very good job at things. What would happen if we affirmed those people around us in the workplace, at home, and throughout our lives? Let’s discuss how to make that huge impact.
Today, we want to talk about how to be a positive influence on our campuses through giving affirmations. Watch the YouTube video here >>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBr3cgZWSc4
Most of us spend our days working, playing, being in relationships and always wondering if you’re doing a good job or if anyone appreciates you or your work.
So we think it’s important to talk about the ways we can meet that need for other people on our campuses.
It’s called Affirmation.
In marriage studies, they say something like this: that it takes 5 positive affirmations to lift our spirits for every 1 criticism.
The concept is the same with all of us. We hear a lot of the ways we are messing up or can improve, but we seldom hear positive words spoken over us.
How do we give an affirmation?
- Care about how others are feeling.
- Notice what they’re doing.
- Notice who they are.
- Then tell them. Don’t just think it … SAY IT. Tell them.
Who needs these words?
- students
- teachers
- parents
- admin
- custodians
- food prepDon’t stop with your classroom!
- fast food workers sweeping
- airline attendants
- restaurant bus boys
- your kids and spouse
- your enemies
Here’s a way that we tried this in our marriage: Reasons we love each other…a gift for each day…a journey of affirming thoughts for the ones we love…365 days of loving each other by Created for Learning >>> Read them all over on Pinterest.
What a powerful effect we could have!
