Earlier this year, I updated the quote at the end of my teacher emails at school.

The famous old adage used to say:

“Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

But this just isn’t true anymore. The business world is changing too fast. And that’s not a bad thing…it’s just reality now. If we want to keep being successful, we have to keep growing, changing, learning, and innovating.

So I revised the old famous saying to now say:

“Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish . . . and he’ll eat for a couple of years until he has to start learning all the new fishing technology or risk falling behind.”

I think that’s more like it for today. What do you think?
